Quran Verses to Recite in Makkah
Anyone going for an Umrah will spend a significant amount of time at the Holy Ka’bah. This is the centre of worship for all Muslims and the house of the Almighty on this planet. Numerous verses in the Holy Quran speak of the virtues of the Holy Ka’bah. Here are some Quranic verses that you can recite at the Ka’bah.
-
Ka’bah as the first Place of Worship
“Indeed, the first house which was established as a place of worship for the people is the one which is in Makka (the Kaʿba); blessed and a guide to the entire world.”
This verse corrects Jewish views that claim that their Qibla in Jerusalem is superior to the Ka’bah, as it is older and has been the Qibla of many prophets. After the revelation of this verse, it was clear that Kab’ah has stood as the first house of worship long before the Jews’ Qibla in Jerusalem.

Centre of Worship and Place of Safety
And recall when We made this House (i.e., the Ka’bah) a focal point for the people and a place of safety. And make the standing place of Ibrahim a station for salah. We emphasised to Ibrahim and Isma’il that ˹they must˺ purify My House well for those who perform tawaf, and those who perform iʿtikaf, and those who bow down and prostrate.
This verse declares the Ka’bah as the ultimate sanctuary for the Muslims. So, reciting this verse while standing beside the cubic structure will surely refresh your faith and motivate you to make the most of your time at this pilgrimage site.

Safa and Marwah as the Symbols of Almighty
Indeed, aṣ-Ṣafā and al-Marwah are among the symbols of Allah. So whoever makes ḥajj to the House or performs ʿumrah – there is no blame upon him for walking between them. And whoever volunteers is good – then indeed, Allah is appreciative and Knowing.
Walking between Safa and Marwah is a prominent part of the pilgrimage. While you are performing this ritual, you can recite the above verse.
Quranic Verses to Recite in Madinah
Umrah is incomplete without a trip to Madinah. Every pilgrim with an Umrah visa can also visit Madinah and pay their respects to the Prophet (SAW), as it is his city. The city is also known for its tranquillity and is home to numerous sacred sites.
-
Paying Respects to the Prophet (SAW)
Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace.
There is no denying that Madinah is unmatched in its spirituality due to the presence of Masjid an-Nabawi. It is undoubtedly a rewarding experience.

Mosque of Righteousness
Do not stand [for prayer] within it—ever. A mosque founded on righteousness from the first day is more worthy for you to stand in. Within it are men who love to purify themselves; and Allah loves those who purify themselves.
This verse is on the first mosque of Islam, Masjid Quba. While visiting this mosque, you can recite this verse, which will remind you of the significance of this sacred site.
